Hola from Manual Antonio,
This morning we got up
at 3 a.m. to leave Monteverde for Manual Antonio. We slept
for several hours before the sun came up.
As
we got to the Pacific coast some of the birds were different
because they like to live by the sea. In one place we saw
Pelicans rest on some branched that were in a river by the
ocean. I have attached pictures of pelicans for you to see
(To the right, click on the image to see it enlarged). We
finally got to Manual Antonio. It is a beach town so there
are lots of tourists here. This morning we went into
the Manual
Antonio National Park and walked for about 2 hours. It
is very hot here and very humid. The forest we hiked
through is called a tropical humid forest. It was 33
degrees Centigrade here today (weather).
While we were hiking we
saw lots of white faced capuchin monkeys. They are
used to people in this park.
Our
guide had to chase them away from us on the trail. The
reason they like people is because they are sometimes given
food. It is not a good thing to be feeding them because
they can get mad if someone doesn’t give them something to
eat. They have big teeth and can bite hard (To the
left, click on image to see it enlarged).
We
hiked up a very steep hill to get to a platform that looks out
over the Pacific Ocean. We saw crashing waves on one side
and heard cicada in the forest behind us. I have attached
a picture from this platform for you too see (To the right,

Tomorrow we are driving
a short distance from Manual Antonio to stay in a place called El
Silencio. I will write when I can to tell you about
it.
