So often we think
about great persons from the past in the context of today. (What
would George Washington be if he were alive today?) The objective
of this lesson is to read part of the "Journal of a Voyage" written by
Ben Franklin in 1726 and re-write a passage of it in the context of today's
world.

You
are not simply translating this paragraph to more modern english.

and understandable in the order of the other journal entries.

YOUR
ENTRY WILL NOT RESEMBLE BEN'S ORIGINAL ENTRY.
Why?
You have available technology that allows real time on-board scientific
information.
Following
are points to remember while you are writing...
-
Available
specialized equipment on board his ship to show exact location and proximity
to land

Satellite
data allowing real time weather and oceanographic information
