Re: Earthquakes and Volcanoes
Dear Mr. President:
In response to your request for information regarding my earthquake/volcano project, I have enclosed the following information:
Ø Where the most recent earthquakes are occurring and where they are likely to occur.
Ø How to determine what parts of the world are most prone to earthquakes and volcanoes.
Ø The relationship that exists between volcanoes and earthquakes.
Ø The causes of earthquakes.
The most recent earthquakes have occurred off of the southwest coast of Alaska, western coast of South America, down the center of the Atlantic Ocean, and off of the coast of Japan. Earthquakes are most likely to occur where plates are bumping into each other or spreading apart from each other.
To determine what parts of the world where earthquakes and volcanoes are most prone to occur, you would to have to look at a map of tectonic plates and look for the places where the edges of the plates are and where the plates touch.
The relationship that exists between volcanoes and earthquakes is that volcanoes happen mostly where earthquakes happen and the bumping or drifting of plates creates them both.
The cause of earthquakes is that when two tectonic plates bump it causes the earth’s crust to rumble.
I hope you find this information helpful and continue to fund my work.
