Lesson #2 Web Site Instructions:
Part One: Locating the ship
- Take out Handout #2
- Get the Ship ID Code and the ship map you should be using from your teacher and record it on Handout #2 (see below).
- Follow the link to the Pacific Ocean Ship Map, Atlantic Ocean Ship Map, European Ship Map, or Asian Ship Map, depending on what your teacher told you, and see if you can locate your ship using the ID Code.
- Remain on the Ocean Ship page.
Part Two: Accessing data from your ship
- Take out Handout #2
- Go to the top left of your Ocean Ship map and click on the link to "observation table."
- Scroll down on the table to find the ID code of your ship. Note that both buoys and ships are listed on this table.
- If you cannot find your ship ID code on the table, go to the NDBC Ship Observations Report . Click on the drop-down menu to select data from past 12 hours.
- Record the necessary data below.
