Final Report - June, 2003

Leola Elementary, Lancaster, PA, USA

After looking at the verified data, we made a few observations:

  1. Singapore, which has the highest average temperature, is closest to the equator.

  2. Columbia, although close to the equator, was not as hot as Singapore. Parts of Columbia have mountains. Higher elevations mean cooler temperatures.

  3. South Africa had cooler temps because of distance from the equator and elevation.

  4. The Northeast part of the US had unusually cold temperatures during the week they were recorded. Some of the US temps were colder than in parts of Canada! The Southern US was typically warmer since its closer to the equator.
