Global Sun Temperature Report

We are reporting from Ruffing Montessori School's 7th grade class in Rocky River, OH, USA(41.30N, 81.40W).
During the project, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on November 3-7, we recorded the temperature in the shade at that time. We also recorded the sunrise and sunset times for that week. We did this by contracting the sunrise and sunset times of Rocky River from the US Naval Observatory Website and determining the total minutes of sunlight from this data.
With this data from November 3-7, we were able to observe that the average minutes of sunlight was greater below the equator than above the equator. The farther south you go, the more sunlight there was. This is because the Earth's tilt is favoring the southern hemisphere. The pattern for the temperatures was not quite as distinct as the sunlight was. From the data, we found out that usually the closer you are to the equator, the higher the temperature is. We also learned that the temperature and the sunlight have little to do with the longitude.
Sincerely,
Ruffing Montessori School's 7th grade
