Final Report - December, 2004 |
| St. John’s Academy in
Jamestown, North Dakota, USA This is the final report for the fourth grade from St. John’s Academy in Jamestown, North Dakota, USA. We began the project by recording the temperature at the end of our lunch recess about 12:30 PM each day of the selected week in Nov. We used the web site suggested by the Global Sun Temperature project to obtain the number of minutes of sunlight per day. The students then learned how to use latitude and longitude on the map. When the data became available online, we used sticky notes to identify the locations of the participating schools. The students were excited to see how many continents were involved in this project. Next, we graphed minutes of sunlight with latitude and found a strong relationship between the two. The correlation between temperature and latitude was not as strong. We determined that geographical factors such as elevation and locations near the coast would also affect temperature. We enjoyed participating in this project! Thank you! Mrs. Vandrovec’s class. |
