Lesson 1: Make a Weather Station
	Students will design and build some of the same instruments that meteorologists use.
Lesson 2: Using the Internet to observe Weather
	Students will take and compare weather measurements from their city and that of another location with measurements from the Internet.
Lesson 3: Track Weather Like a Meteorologist
	Students will use both the weather instruments they previously made and the Internet to collect and record weather measurements for your city as well as two other cities over a of two week period (minimum).
Lesson 4: How does the weather change?
	Students will analyze the weather data using graphs, charts, and averages for patterns and trends.
Lesson 5: Are weather forecasts always right?
	Students will apply their weather data analysis and information from radar and satellite images to make weather predictions for your area.

Factors that influence Climatological Temperature
Lesson C1: Factors that affect temperature
	Students will predict & compare current temperatures around the world & in their country with real-time weather data and develop initial hypothesis how & why various factors affect temperature.
Lesson C2: The Global Sun Temperature Project - Latitude and Temperature (see project web site for dates)
	Students will determine how their geographic location with respect to latitude (e.g. where you live) influences temperature.
Lesson C3: Elevation and Temperature
	Students will compare weather data for locations at different elevations to discover the effect that elevation has on temperature.
Lesson C4: Local Geography and Temperature
	Students will compare weather data between inland and coastal cities to determine how land & water differences affect temperature.
Lesson C5: Weather and Climate
	Students will study the differences and make distinctions and between weather and climate for your particular region.

Supplemental and Enrichment Lessons
Enrichment Lesson 1: Looking in on the Weather
	Students will use live web cams to use to observe the weather in distant locations and compare with real-time weather data.
Enrichment Lesson 2: Cloudy Weather
	Students will study the differences and make distinctions and between weather and climate for your particular region.
Enrichment Lesson 3: What happens at night?
	Students will use real time weather data to investigate what happens to air temperature at night.
Enrichment Lesson 4: Storm Forecasting
	Record the path of a storm as it is forming and make predictions regarding where it will strike, what areas are at risk and how severe it will be.

Assessment Suggestions

Each of the lessons has a section on assessment located at the bottom of each page that contains individual assessment suggestions to evaluate the students' understanding of each of the corresponding objectives. Additionally, Lesson 5: Are weather forecasts always right? may be used to assess to what degree the students have achieved the learning objectives for the entire Weather Scope: An Investigative Study of Weather and Climate project. You may need to change the suggested format and requirements to match the material and objectives for the lessons that you covered and the equipment that is available.
