What I do:
I study the way chemicals react in very small systems called microchemical systems. My students and I build tiny reactors, put chemicals into them and then see what happens. Right now we are trying to figure out how to produce hydrogen for making electricity for portable electronics like computers and radios.
What I like most about my job:
The best part about my job is being able to work with other people in research. I especially enjoy helping my students to solve problems so that they know how to tackle new challenges and become independent researchers. I also enjoy working with researchers at other places, all around the world, that are interested in the same problems I am.
