What I do:  I teach Senior Design. Students learn how to apply all of their engineering training by working on a year long project, during which they design and build a really cool medical device. I teach the students to understand the needs of the clinicians and marketplace, and to integrate these needs into their technical solution. I also help them to work with doctors and industry experts as well as other professors on campus who can help them with their expertise. What I like most about my job: I love to witness the students gain personal confidence as they progress and succeed; some are even writing patents or publishing papers in prestigious journals.
