Developing a Speech Outline

Content Material

Student Directions:

·        Following the outline provided, create an effective speech outline utilizing the appropriate format.


STEP ONE:  Students review a copy of the transcripts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech.


STEP TWO:  Students listen to a broadcast of the speech.


STEP THREE:  Students identify the main ideas presented in the speech, including the introduction, at least three prepositions and appropriate transition, the conclusion, and bibliographic references.


STEP FOUR:  Students follow a basic outline format and transcribe the “I Have A Dream” speech into an outline.
