Use the C programming Language to create a
Currency Trading Simulation

Recommendations

Recommendations for Integration:
  • This problem-based RWLO can be used either as a classroom / computer lab activity or assigned for homework to provide an opportunity for students to create an Simulation that uses real world data in a currency trading program. It is recommended that each student work individually to create their programs. Also, before assigning this activity to your students, it is HIGHLY recommended that you follow the Student Directions and create a currency trading program yourself using the exchange rates web site. This will prepare you for what the students will encounter.

Instructor Examples:
  • Download the CurrencyTrader.c program file to review a working solution to this problem. Use it as a guide to interpret the students' programs.
  • Download the CurrencyTrader.exe executable file for a compiled version to show the students how the program should work.
  • Download the buySell.c program file to review the base program the students will use in their assignment.

Back-up:
  • Download the PseudoCode.doc text file to each of the student computers or to a diskette prior to the lesson and save/print out the exchange rates data for Today from the dailyfx web site and all of the materials referenced in the Content Material section of this web site.
