Recommendations for Integration:
This RWLO was developed as an introductory lesson to increase awareness of the learning process and how phonemic awareness and phonics instruction contribute to the process of learning how to read and write.
It could also be integrated into a language arts or special needs class at any appropriate time in the course curriculum.
In order for this RWLO to be effective, students must have internet access in order to do the interactive experience on the PBS website. If the RWLO was planned as a class experience and the internet was unavailable it would have to be rescheduled or given as an out of class assignment. Each individual student would need access to the internet so that he or she could proceed through the learning object at his or her own rate.
