Question 3: Is it colder in the northern states than in the southern states?

Look at a USA Today Weather page. It shows a map of the United States color coded according to temperature.

Based on the temperature bands you see, what kinds of conclusions can you make about temperature patterns on this map? You can see a similar map for today.

Pretend that this classroom is the USA. Have students "adopt a city" that geographically matches where they are sitting. (For example, students to the far left of the teacher would be in California, Oregon, or Washington.) Have them answer these questions.

According the USA Today Map, what temperature do expect in your city today?

Go to the this weather site and confirm that this is true.

Example: Here are some temperatures from cities around the USA.
Sunday, February 24

Cities  Temperature (F)
San Antonio, TX
Sacramento, CA
San Francisco, CA
Philadelphia, PA
Fargo, ND
Sioux Falls, ID

Does this help you answer our question?

Now let's compare temperature's with Location (or latitude):

Date: __________ Time: __________ (      )

City
