Directions on How to Setup a Free Email Account with RocketMail

Before you sign-up for your email account, please take a few minutes to think of a username. Your email address consists of at least two parts: your "username" and a "domain name". For example, "chowsy@rocketmail.com" is my email address. To the left of the @ sign is "chowsy", my username, and to the right is the domain name, "rocketmail.com". Very importantly, you can choose your own "username" but the domain name will automatically become "rocketmail.com". Your username will be your email account name. Usually people choose their first letter of their name followed by their last name. This doesn't always work, however, because someone might have already taken your username. If this happens, RocketMail will ask you to think of another name. Last but not least, please limit your username to eight characters.

* IMPORTANT: Your password is case sensitive, which means if you type Hello97 as your password, you must remember the letter H is capitalized.

1. Go to URL in Netscape

5. Sign me up for RocketMail now! Fill out the requested information below to get your free rocketmail email account. Please note that you need not give your phone number, street address, or specify household income to get your account. You will have to fill out all the other pertinent information or your request will not be processed.

6. When you are finished filling out the account setup information click the at the bottom of the page.

7. If you have filled out all the information requested, you will get a confirmation note. If you have missed data, you will be prompted to go back and finish filling out the info needed. Once you have successfully provided the account setup info, you will confirm the information.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions

  1. How long will my email account last?
    You're email account should be good for as long as RocketMail stays in business.

  2. Why is it Free?
    RocketMail uses "banner advertising" to help pay for the costs associated with maintaining their web site and services. Essentially, businesses pay to advertise on RocketMail. You'll see these banners throughout the RocketMail web site. Your name and "market information" that you filled out when registering your email is also used to help pay for RocketMail's services.

  3. How do I check my Mail?
    You will need a computer that has an Internet connection and a Web Browser, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.

  4. How do I get online help about RocketMail?
    Once you have successfully logged in, you can click on the "Help Desk" option in the menu box. The help desk offers a lot of step-by-step information on how to manage your email features, such as setting up an address book and signature file.
