The class, as a whole, decides on a set of data that they feel best represents their local schoolyard environment and submits it to the online project database.  The database can then be accessed by the other participanting classrooms and students.  Check out the data collection form that has been especially designed for use by young students...


Students can enter in the class data on their own, in groups or with the teacher.



The online database has been designed to allow students to enter in data in both graphical as well as text formats.  The "screenshot" above shows the online submission form that students use to enter in their data.  They can select icons to represent what was found in their square and then enter in text to describe in more detail what was found.
