The Savvy Cyber Teacher®

Improving Middle and High School Science Education through the use of Technology

4th Annual NJ GEAR UP Statewide Conference

Inspiring Students to Achieve

February 5, 2004

Overview

This workshop will introduce participants to “unique and compelling” Internet-based curriculum resources that integrate technology into the middle and high school science classroom and promote effective learning experiences.

CIESE-developed curriculum materials engage students in authentic science investigations in which they perform experiments, collect, record and analyze real data, make predictions, and, in effect, become real scientists. Projects promote the integration of science, mathematics, technology, and other core subjects and connect schools to classrooms around the world. Projects are explicitly linked to national content standards and are multi-disciplinary, focusing on science topics that require quantitative analysis; critical thinking; collaboration, and other 21st century workforce skills.
